Oklahoma is favored by 28 in its matchup with a team that defeated them a year ago. It’s justified.
IT’S FOOTBALL TIIIIIIIIIME IN OKLAHOMAAAAAAAA!
But it almost wasn’t football time in Oklahoma. In this current reality of Covid-19 and contact tracing, you truly never know which teams will be available from week to week. With rosters needing to have enough players across the roster and meet thresholds at certain positions, the Kansas State Wildcats (and their opponent — the Oklahoma Sooners ) faced the possibility of not being able to bring the squad to Norman for this weekend’s game.
That’s what made this weird Friday morning sight so sweet.

I don’t know what a feral cat’s tolerance for MDMA happens to be, but I believe this feline is close to its limit. He or she seems to be on the verge of crying serious tears of joy and has promised to never take Saturday football for granted ever again. I’m right there with ya, kitty cat.

Final Thoughts
No repeat performance? – In 2019, Chris Klieman’s K-State team stunned the Sooners with a physical rushing attack that enabled them to control the clock. Fortunately for OU, the 2020 Wildcat offensive line is unrecognizable in comparison to last season’s unit personnel-wise, so don’t expect history to repeat itself. Furthermore, this week’s positive test/contact tracing group in question is believed to be the KSU secondary, which is what one might call ‘less than ideal’ in this particular matchup. Long story short — Purple Kansas might be in a bit of trouble this week.
Who I want to see – In the lead-up to the Missouri State game, it was announced that true freshman Anton Harrison would take over starting duties at left tackle. Unfortunately, the Washington, D.C. product was absent due to what one would assume is related to either a positive test or contact tracing (we’ll never know for sure, as OU rightfully doesn’t disclose those names to the public or media). Anyway, the fact that Bill Bedenbaugh named him a starter over returning contributor Erik Swenson and prized 2019 signee Stacey Wilkins speaks volumes, and I can’t wait to see him in action. I’m also looking forward to the 2020 debuts of TJ Pledger (who was been listed at the top of the depth chart at RB) and number of defensive linemen (including true sophomore Marcus Stripling ).
What I want to see – Alex Grinch’s Speed D looked fired up against Missouri State, and I’d expect nothing less this week. Having said that, we only saw one turnover two weeks ago, which came for Delarrin Turner-Yell on what was basically the equivalent of fielding a punt. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take it, but I’d just love to see this defense live out Grinch’s vision and force multiple takeaways.
