OSU’s 2022 recruiting class ranks 21st nationally and fourth in the Big 12 with 13 commitments. The per-player average of 88.18 might finish as the best of the Gundy era. Recruiting is … [looks around, slams on wood with both fits] … going quite well for the Pokes!
But the class isn’t done yet. OSU is likely just over halfway through compiling its class for the cycle. So with the quiet period coming to an end this month and making way for the dead period, I did my own compiling of a dream list of conceivably gettable targets still left on OSU’s board.
I landed on three players.
Here they are.
1. Jordan Crook | Linebacker | 6-0, 225
Maybe I just don’t take breakups well but Crook, who committed to OSU then decommitted last month, should be No. 1 on the list here. He’s just a three-star recruit but the rating isn’t commensurate with the talent. If OSU can somehow find a way to re-add him to this class the Cowboys would have to feel really good about the future of its LB position.
2. DeSean Brown | DE | 6-3, 230
The 2022 class has two commitments at defensive line, but Brown — a terror off the edge from Choctaw — could be the final piece of the puzzle this cycle. He had 15 sacks last season and has the athletic profile of a future NFL player.
3. Tyrone Webber | OL | 6-5, 290
I’m not ready to smash the panic button yet for OSU in offensive line recruiting but I’ve got my finger resting on it, and trust me, I’m ready to pounce. It doesn’t look great right now. OSU has just one commitment (Austin Kawecki). Meanwhile …
- Five-star Kelvin Banks Jr. is off to Oregon
- Four-star Jacob Sexton is off to Oklahoma
- Three-star Bray Lynch is off to Indiana
Getting Webber — a 6-5 junior college product — would at least give OSU an experienced body to add to the mix at OL for this cycle.
