The Big 12’s Newcomer of the Week award might be named after Cowboy running back Jaylen Warren soon.
Warren won the weekly honor for the fourth time this season after his performance in Morgantown. A Utah State transfer, Warren had 16 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown in Oklahoma State’s 24-3 victory against West Virginia. He also had a pair of receptions for nine receiving yards.
Warren is up to 928 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this season. He has forced 69 missed tackles, according to Pro Football Focus, which is third best in the country behind Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker and Texas’ Bijan Robinson. Warren’s 618 yards after contact ranks eighth in the country.
It’s the fifth weekly award Warren has won this season, adding a Offensive Player of the Week to his four Newcomer of the Week honors. It marks the 11th time an OSU players has picked up a weekly award this season. The Pokes have played only nine games.
