Oklahoma’s recruiting efforts in the DMV area continue to prove fruitful, as the Sooners have now secured the commitment of Upper Marlboro (Md.) Dr. Henry Wise four-star WR Jalil Farooq.

The Oklahoma Sooners ’ recruiting efforts in the DMV area continue to prove fruitful, as Upper Marlboro (Md.) Dr. Henry Wise four-star WR Jalil Farooq has announced his intention to spend his college years in Norman.

The talented wide receiver shares the D.C. connection with Caleb Williams — the nation’s No. 1 QB and the current headliner of the class. The Oklahoma staff was more or less able to have its pick of receivers in this cycle, and it seems as if Farooq felt very comfortable with the idea of playing in a Lincoln Riley offense. He has committed to the Sooners over schools such as Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Maryland and several others.

Farooq is a talented receiver who stands at 6’1 and a solid 200 lbs., but he has the fluidity of a much smaller athlete. Additionally, he has incredibly strong hands and the ability to make explosive plays after the catch. He is likely going to buff up to nearly 215 lbs. and be a specialist of sorts because of his thick lower body.

Dennis Simmons is trying to build a wealth of future quality depth beyond Trejan Bridges , Jadon Haselwood , Theo Wease and Marvin Mims. So far… mission accomplished.

Farooq is the Sooners’ 15th commit for the 2021 recruiting cycle and the third receiver of the class. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 23 wide receiver and the overall No. 133 player in th e nation . This places the Sooners’ 2021 recruiting class at 12th, while also holding strong in the No. 1 slot in the Big 12 . OU has already added blue-chip receivers Cody Jackson and Mario Williams to this class, so Farooq is just the latest high-caliber athlete to join them in what’s turning out to being another immaculate offensive haul for Riley.
