The Oklahoma Sooners (9-0, 6-0) had the week off after the College Football Playoff rankings debuted last Tuesday night, and in the committee’s second installment of the season, OU holds firm at No. 8 in the CFP poll.

Michigan State and Wake Forest each fell from the ranks of the unbeatens on Saturday and as a result the CFP poll on Tuesday night. Still, both the Spartans and the Demon Deacons control their own destinies in the race for the Big Ten and the ACC titles, respectively, but they’ll likely need some outside assistance if they want any hope of competing for a spot in the playoffs.
Baylor was unable to take care of business against a TCU team in its first game without the services of Gary Patterson. That loss effectively eliminated any chance the Bears had for crashing the CFP party, but a win against OU this weekend would go a long way toward keeping their hopes for a Big 12 Championship alive.
