Duo of OSU Baseball Stars Earn All-American Honors

June 3, 2021

A pair of OSU baseball standouts earned All-American honors on Thursday as third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand and pitcher Justin Campbell were both named to the Collegiate Baseball All-America Second Team.

The duo gives OSU baseball a grand total of 121 All-Americans during the program’s proud history. They are the eighth and ninth to earn that distinction under Josh Holliday, who has helmed the program for nine seasons.

Encarnacion-Strand has started all 53 games for the Cowboys at third base in his first season with the program and has been one of the most prolific bats in the country, hitting .362 on the year to go with 15 dingers, 55 RBIs and a .674 slugging percentage. The Yavapai College product was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year and a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Campbell, a Cali product like Encanacion-Strand, has been the ace of OSU’s bullpen this season, earning a 7-1 record with a 2.08 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 78 total innings. He earned All-Big 12 First Team honors as a pitcher and utility player this season. Campbell is just the 15th pitcher in OSU history to record 100 strikeouts in a season. He joined even more exclusive company last month when he tossed the program’s third-ever no-hitter in a nine-inning game.
