The Cowboys earned their first blemish of the 2021 season against Iowa State on Saturday and it showed up in the rankings. OSU slid from 8th to 15th in this week’s AP Top 25. The Cowboys also fell to 15 in the AFCA Coaches poll.

The Cowboys weren’t the only ranked team to have troubles.
No. 7 Penn State fell to unranked Illinois, and all the way to No. 20. No. 14 Coastal Carolina slid to 24 after a loss, and No. 18 NC State and No. 25 Purdue were both knocked out of the ranking altogether. The Even Oklahoma had its troubles with Kansas on the road, but survived.
Elsewhere in the Big 12, the Sooners dropped two spots after escaping Lawrence in comeback fashion and Iowa State rejoined the ranking at 22 after beating OSU. Baylor took a big step up four spots in the polls despite being on a bye week.
