A former Cowboy commit is heading farther north than initially anticipated.
Southlake Carroll (TX) corner Avyonne Jones committed to Wisconsin on Monday. Jones decommitted from Oklahoma State on May 23 after committing in April.
A three-star prospect, Jones is the No. 1,050 player in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
All is not lost for the Cowboys at the position, however.
OSU already has a commitment from 6-foot-3 corner Cameron Epps, the No. 487 player in the class.
The Cowboys are also in the mix to land Colleyville Heritage (TX) standout Dylahn McKinney. The No. 666 (ominous) player in the class, McKinney took an official visit to OSU earlier this month. He has also made visits to Missouri and Arizona.
McKinney recorded 65 tackles, 13 pass breakups and four interceptions the past two seasons.
There is also an in-state corner who could find his way onto OSU’s radar in Bethany standout Jocelyn Malaska. Malaska took part in OSU’s passing camp earlier this month.
Malaska is a three-star prospect with offers from Kansas, Vanderbilt, SMU, Tulsa and others.
