Former OSU Standout DT Vincent Taylor Signs With Atlanta Falcons

April 20, 2022

Vincent Taylor, the most lethal special teams defensive lineman of the Mike Gundy era and a reliable run-stuffer at defensive tackle, has signed with the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced on Tuesday. Taylor spent last season with the Houston Texans but suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 1.

“When I walked into the building, it felt good, man,” Taylor said of his signing with the Falcons. “It felt good to go somewhere where I was wanted. And I felt that when I walked into the building.”

Taylor was a sixth-round draft pick to the Miami Dolphins in 2017 where he spent two seasons. He’s since hopped around, playing with the Bills, Browns and most recently, the Texans.

Injuries (knee, ankle, foot) over the years have unfortunately played a big role in dictating how successful Taylor has been as a pro, but when healthy, he’s been a valuable part of a team’s defensive line rotation. With Miami, he had two sacks, 45 tackles, three QB hits and four tackles for loss in 21 games.

At OSU, Taylor was consistently a difference-maker at defensive tackle and most memorably on special teams. When OSU needed a big play, he’d fire through a gap and block a kick. Even Glenn Spencer chimed in after the signing to make sure Pokes fans remember his impact:

Here’s an excellent reel package of Taylor via OSU from his days as a Cowboy highlighting his biggest moments.
