Series History
Before Mike Boynton took over in Stillwater these teams a state away from each other hadn’t played since the 1960s.
Oklahoma State leads the overall series 13-8, but in this century the teams are 1-1 against each other. The teams first met in 1951, a game OSU won 61-52. OSU started the series on a four-game winning streak before the Cougars pulled off a win in 1953.
More recently, the Cowboys and Cougars played back-to-back seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20. The first of those two meetings saw Houston go to Gallagher-Iba Arena and pull off a 63-53 victory thanks to a 23-point outing from Armoni Brooks.
In the second of those meetings, OSU traveled to Houston and won 61-55 in a game the Cowboys started walk-on Dee Mitchell. That game saw Yor Anei score 18 points and bring down eight rebounds. Cameron McGriff also had a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.
