Also, this current OU team is in need of a cultural shift following the loss to Kansas State

Happy Tuesday, friends and fans!

Last week, former Oklahoma Sooners WR Jeff Badet shared his feelings on not having received a care package ( i.e. team apparel, gear, swag, etc.) from either OU or his first college — the Kentucky Wildcats .

I ain’t receive no care packages from the colleges I went to smh.

On Tuesday, Oklahoma corrected this major oversight and delivered the former Sooner speedster with some unspecified OU goodies. Boomer!

SPECIAL delivery! thank you @OU_Football ❤️ pic.twitter.com/Xw9BtI4rCx

Since going undrafted in 2018, Badet has suited up for the Minnesota Vikings , the XFL ’s Dallas Renegades and the Washington Football Team . He’s currently in the nation’s capital, where he hopes to earn an official NFL roster spot from his performance on the practice squad.

Now onto today’s Hot Links! OU’s football team identifies a need for a change in culture, Oklahoma looks strong on the golf course, a former UT standout is likely returning to the Lone Star State and more!

OU Links

The Iowa State Cyclones are Oklahoma’s next opponent, and represent the first time the team will play away from home in 2020. On Monday, Matt Campbell talked about the talent throughout OU’s roster , despite that talent falling short of expectations in the Big 12 opener, writes SI Sooners ’ John Hoover.

Speaking of ISU, Sooners Wire’s Derek Parker broke down the lopsided history between OU and the Cyclones . None of that will matter on Saturday, but it’s interesting information to store away nevertheless.

The Tulsa World’s Eric Bailey recently collected the thoughts coming out of OU following its embarrassing loss to the Kansas State Wildcats , and one undeniable takeaway from the underwhelming result is that the Sooners played as if they could flip a switch when in reality they could not and cannot in the future if they expect to contend for a sixth consecutive Big 12 Championship.

Most people don’t care about positive stats after a loss, but the Norman Transcript’s Joe Buettner (who also happens to be a really awesome dude) shared these rather impressive numbers from Oklahoma’s defense. Now defending the pass might be a different story, but at least something looks like it’s heading in the right direction.

Not sure how often this will happen, but #Sooners currently lead the nation in third-down defense (2/22, .09%) and fourth in run defense (2.4 yards per carry).

In its first competition of the fall slate, the OU men’s golf team took the crown at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational Big 12 Preview. Logan McAllister paced the Sooners with an individual win and help his team best runner-up Texas by six strokes. It’s a great start for head coach Ryan Hybl’s talented bunch, which will no doubt be in the national title conversation come springtime.

.#Sooners are teeing off now in the final round at Colonial.

The 2020 NHL Champs have been crowned, as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars on Monday, 2-0. In doing so, TB clinched the series in six games and won the Stanley Cup for just the second time in franchise history.

The Tennessee Titans have shut down all in-person team activities as well as their practice facilities after three players tested positive for COVID-19. Reportedly, the Minnesota Vikings are following similar measures after the two teams played each other on Sunday.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has suffered an ankle fracture that reportedly will not require surgery . Philly is hopeful that his recovery time should be quick enough that it won’t cause the team to place him on IR.

Veteran safety Earl Thomas is reportedly expected to sign with the Houston Texans pending a workout and physical exam. The former Texas Longhorns DB last played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 after spending his first nine seasons as a pro with the Seattle Seahawks .

Clemson Tigers QB Trevor Lawrence still leads the way in ESPN’s latest Heisman Watch , while Mississippi State Bulldogs signal caller K.J. Costello and Florida Gators passer Kyle Trask both enter the top five after strong showings on Saturday.
