Lincoln Riley is saying that he liked what he saw from the team this week in practice. Let’s hope he isn’t just blowing smoke.

Happy Friday, friends and fans!

The field inside the historic Cotton Bowl is officially prepped and ready for some football. In less than 24 hours from now, the 116th meeting between the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns will finally kick off.

Oof… that midfield logo is absolutely atrocious.

New paint, who dis? Happy to see our operations team painting the field again. Great job guys! Only 2️⃣ more sleeps until football returns to Cotton Bowl Stadium! pic.twitter.com/zz3ApUTqQ2

OU fans, keep your fingers crossed that the only players scoring in either end zone on Saturday are wearing Crimson & Cream. Hey, a guy can dream. Now although both teams are limping into the fairgrounds, this contest is still shaping up as another classic battle in one of college football’s most intense rivalries.

Remember kids, Boomer Sooner and Texas sucks!

Now onto this week’s Friday edition of Hot Links! Alex Grinch needs to consider personnel changes, UT’s major defensive weakness lies in its secondary, Thursday Night Football briefly resembled Monday Night RAW and more!

On Friday, Lincoln Riley said he liked what he saw from the team this week in practice. Oklahoma is coming off back-to-back regular season losses for the first time in over two decades, and the Sooners will have their work cut out for them once again this Saturday against their archrival — the Texas Longhorns .

It might be time for personnel changes in OU’s secondary . DC Alex Grinch is the man tasked with finding a solution for the defense’s struggles, and a number of the players seeing the field lately haven’t answered the call, writes John Hoover of SI Sooners.

Like every year, this season’s Oklahoma-Texas matchup has been broken down by every aspect and angle possible. I’m here to pass along one more from Sooners Wire’s Steven Plaisance, who recently took a look at how OU stacks up with the Longhorns statistically, position-by-position .

Earlier this week, Pete Mundo of Heartland College Sports offered his take on OU-Texas . Check out the key players he has his eyes on for both sides of the Red River, as well as his final score prediction.

Make sure you check out this week’s Red River Q&As. Jack Shields answered questions from Burnt Orange Nation , and BON’s Gerald Goodridge did the same for Crimson & Cream Machine .

In case you missed it, Allen Kenney recently broke down what he’s observed from the Texas defense under new DC Chris Ash . Through three games, the Longhorns have struggled quite a bit at keeping opposing offenses off the field and the scoreboard.

Speaking of Allen, he had a great discussion with ESPN personality and noted Texas fan Bomani Jones regarding Tom Herman and this Saturday’s matchup. You definitely don’t want to miss it!

Wichita State Shockers head basketball coach Gregg Marshall is under an internal investigation by university officials after allegations were made regarding physical and verbal abuse toward former players.

Chicago Bears DE Khalil Mack is a known freak athlete around the NFL, and on Thursday night he welcomed Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie OT Tristan Wirfs to the league with this incredible hip toss following a sack on Tom Brady . Keep in mind, Wirfs checks in at over 320 pounds. All I can say to this breathtaking move is my goodness, I’m honestly stunned. In the end, Mack ’s Bears beat the Bucs, 20-19.
