The U23 National Championships took place this past weekend in Nebraska, and three Oklahoma State wrestlers were competing.
- Jalin Harper-74 KG
- Luke Surber-92 KG
- Konner Doucet-125 KG
Jalin Harper, who started some at 157 for the Cowboys, had the deepest run on the championship side of the bracket of all of the Cowboys. He worked his way to the semifinals by taking out No. 1 seed Danny Braunagel, 7-4. He dropped to the consolation side there and won his consolation semifinal match before falling in the consolation finals and finishing fourth.
At 92 KG, Luke Surber started off with two 10-0 tech fall wins before matching up with OU All-American Jake Woodley in the quarter finals. Woodley bested Surber 9-6 pushing him to the consolation bracket. From there, Surber picked up two more 10-0 techs before matching up with Michigan State All-American Cam Caffey. Surber beat Caffey 6-3 then picked up another 10-0 tech to finish third.
Doucet wrestled at 125 KG and made the championship quarterfinals before dropping two straight and falling short of placing.
Surber and Harper’s finishes both earned them All-American status for the tournament.
