It’s list season on the basketball recruiting trail, as many prospects are trimming their top groups in preparation for the early signing period starting in November.
Quadir Copeland was one of those prospects who cut his list down, announcing Wednesday night that he is down to eight: Oklahoma State, Oregon, Syracuse, Penn State, Miami, Maryland, LaSalle and DePaul. Copeland also announced he would commit to a program Aug. 10.
A 6-foot-6 combo guard, Copeland is a three-star prospect ranked 141st in the 2022 class, according to the composite system. However, Rivals is higher on him, listing him as a four-star recruit and the No. 85 player in the class.
He is a Gettysburg, Pennsylvania native, but recently transferred to IMG Academy in Florida. He is a long, slashing guard who seems to be at his best when attacking the basket. He also has good passing ability for his size.
OSU got involved with Copeland in late May.
Syracuse seems to be the favorite to land Copeland as things stand, as he took a visit to New York in June, and analysts from Rivals and 247Sports have predicted him to land with the Orange.
