With more teams’ seasons coming to an end, the college basketball transfer portal is starting to heat up.
West Virginia forward Jalen Bridges entered the transfer portal Wednesday, and Oklahoma State was among a long list of programs that have reached out to him, according to 247Sports’ Travis Branham. Other schools that have reportedly reached out include Arkansas, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Michigan State and Kansas State.
Listed at 6-foot-7, 225 pounds, Bridges averaged 8.4 points and 4.8 rebounds a game as a redshirt sophomore last season. He shot 33% from 3-point range, something OSU coach Mike Boynton has mentioned as a need this offseason. Bridges scored in double digits on nine occasions this past season, including a career-high 22 against Oklahoma State in January.
After redshirting during the 2019-20 season, Bridges still has three seasons of eligibility remaining because of COVID.
He joined West Virginia as a four-star prospect from Fairmont High School in West Virginia. He was the No. 91 player in the 2019 class, picking the Mountaineers over offers from Oklahoma State, Alabama, Miami, Penn State, Indiana and others.
It wouldn’t be the first time Boynton snagged a transfer from another Big 12 school. Just last offseason, Boynton added Kansas transfer Bryce Thompson and Texas Tech transfer Tyreek Smith.
The Cowboys have two players in the portal in Keylan Boone and Donovan Williams. OSU has also reportedly reached out to Princeton point guard Jaelin Llewellyn.
