Online Streaming of Norman Public Schools Athletics

November 29, 2017

Sportstalk Media Group is entering its sixth year offering broadcast streaming services to Norman Public Schools athletics. This year is set to be the most complete coverage yet thanks to the introduction of a pair of smart phone applications designed to serve as a one-stop shop for NPS athletics information.

A quick search in the App Store for iPhone users or the Play Store for Android users connects fans better than ever before to NPS athletics. Simply search “Norman High Athletics” or “Norman North Athletics” and download the respective free applications to be immersed in NPS athletics coverage.

Fans of both Norman High and Norman North athletics are likely familiar with Sportstalk’s web streaming via NormanSports.TV. It has served as the engine for NormanHighLive.com and NormanNorthLive.com, where Sportstalk has streamed video broadcasts of numerous NPS athletics over the past five years.

With the introduction of these new applications, fans will have access to a plethora of NPS athletics’ information in one convenient location. The apps provide quick access to the live video streaming of games from NormanSports.TV as well as radio broadcasts on any smart device. In addition to the live games, fans can find teams’ schedules, rosters, highlights and the latest stories about NPS athletes from The Norman Transcript and The Oklahoman.

“Hopefully, this app will be what bridges it all together. You can go to the app and pick up the streaming, go to the app and pick up radio, go to the app and get rosters and scores and go to the app and get updates that have been through The Norman Transcript or The Oklahoman. It’s a way for everyone to go to the same spot to find NPS athletics,” Sportstalk Media Group owner Randy Laffoon said.

Sportstalk broadcast director Perry Spencer envisions the apps providing something that students, families and others can enjoy.

“We’re adding an element that we hope will engage the younger crowd and relate to the students. It’s a way to give everyone a platform to connect with the Norman public schools and know about their athletes. All of the stuff that you might want to pull up on a phone without having to search the internet,” Spencer said.

With the app, fans will have an easy avenue to find stories from The Norman Transcript’s Thursday high school football Varsity section as well as all of their high school coverage.
”We’re always focusing on telling compelling stories, finding really interesting narratives. We’re not just going to tell you what the score is. We’re going to tell you something that you want to know, that you need to know in an entertaining, engaging way. Those interesting stories that we find, we find across all the various sports that our student athletes participate in,” Norman Transcript editor Caleb Slinkard said.

Similar to how The Norman Transcript covers area high school sports, Sportstalk is committed to providing the best coverage for all of the sports that encompass NPS athletics. Sportstalk hosts weekly NPS coaches’ shows that feature players and coaches from sports that range all the way from football to cheerleading.

“You’re not getting it just for the football. You’re getting softball, volleyball, cheerleading, swimming coverage and more. You’re getting exposure to these athletes for the Crosstown Clash coaches’ shows on a weekly basis. All of these students are having a platform to put their voice out there and give them the notoriety they all deserve,” Spencer said.
