Oddsmakers in the desert give Oklahoma State a slight advantage over its Bedlam foe on Saturday, with the opening betting line favoring the Pokes by more than a field goal. But oddsmakers don’t feel as confident about their chances of taking home the conference title.
Updated odds from Bovada Sportsbook give OSU the second-best odds of winning the Big 12 at +185. That’s better than Baylor’s current odds of +325 but behind OU, which as of now is +100. Statistically those implied odds of winning the conference are as follows: Baylor 23.5%, OSU 35.1%, OU 50%.
Remarkably, OU given current circumstances might have both the best odds of winning the Big 12 and also the best odds of not even being in the title game. OSU is right now the only team with a guaranteed spot in the game. OSU with a win over OU and a Baylor win over Texas Tech would set up an OSU-Baylor rematch. Should OU lose Bedlam and Baylor lose, the Big 12 title game would be a Bedlam rematch — same if OU wins Bedlam (in which case the Baylor result would not matter).
Big 12 title odds
TEAM | ODDS |
BAYLOR | +325 |
OSU | +185 |
OU | +100 |
Perhaps even more nutty is that oddsmakers don’t really see OSU as a threat to the national championship picture at all. While most view them as the best hope for the Big 12, their odds of winning it all are +5000 (some books have it at +3900). You can get OU at +650.
