Not too long after leaving Arizona, the Cowboys have lost both of their Arizona natives.
Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Cade Bennett announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Thursday. Bennett appeared in two games for the Cowboys this season, playing against Kansas and in the Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 315 pounds, Bennett was part of the Cowboys’ 2020 recruiting class. A three-star prospect, he chose Oklahoma State over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa State, BYU, Purdue and others.
Bennett becomes the seventh OSU player to enter the portal this cycle, and he is the third offensive line prospect to do so, joining Hunter Anthony and Monroe Mills. That would make for five scholarship linemen leaving this offseason, including seniors Josh Sills and Danny Godlevske, should all in the transfer portal find homes elsewhere. As things stand, OSU is bringing in three offensive linemen as part of its 2022 class in JUCO standout Tyrone Webber and incoming freshmen Austin Kawecki and Calvin Harvey. That could be added to through the transfer portal or otherwise.
Recent days have also seen a good chunk of the Cowboys’ 2020 class hit the portal. Bennett, Mills and receiver Matt Polk were all part of OSU’s 2020 class and have entered the portal in the past two days.
