The Cowboys’ 2022 class is off to a hot, but it was lacking offensive linemen — until Friday.
Three-star offensive tackle Austin Kawecki committed to Oklahoma State on Saturday, becoming the Cowboys’ 11th commit of the cycle. Kawecki chose Oklahoma State over offers from USC, Texas Tech, Baylor, Colorado, Arizona State, Miami, Penn State and others.
Kawecki is the No. 701 prospect in the 2022 class, jumping up 440 spots since OSU offered him in late March. He plays his preps ball at Lebanon Trail in Frisco and is the No. 99 player from the state of Texas in 2022.
Kawecki tested the waters in his recruitment, visiting USC, Colorado, Baylor, Texas Tech and OSU before deciding Stillwater was where he wanted to be.
Listed at 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, Kawecki has an impressive junior season highlight reel. The first play on it sees him drive a defensive end 17 yards down field before pancaking him. He primarily played left tackle last season, but there are some clips of him at right tackle and left guard.
Kawecki is the first offensive line commit in the Cowboys’ 2022 class, but he is unlikely to be the last. OSU recently had five-star Kelvin Banks (Humble, TX) an four-star Jacob Sexton (Edmond) on campus. Other names to watch are Bray Lynch (Austin, TX), Nikolas Hall (Austin, TX) and Alvin Ebosele (Coppell, TX).
