If freshman sensation Trae Young and Oklahoma men’s basketball keep performing like they have been, it’s safe to say that the “Voice of the Sooners” Toby Rowland and men’s basketball color analyst Kevin Henry are in for a fun season.
The Sooners knocked off then-No. 25 USC, 85-83, on Friday night inside the STAPLES Center as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. Young continued his scoring barrage, pouring in 29 points on 9-of-18 shooting (4-of-11 from 3-point range) and OU won its fifth straight. Junior Christian James (19) and freshman Brady Manek (15) joined Young in double-figures scoring.
T-Row pulled back the curtain a bit on what exactly a basketball broadcast is like with Henry.
“I thoroughly enjoy calling games with Kevin Henry. Just a fun guy. But, he really gets into the game. If you ever watch him during a game, and they’re on a fast break or a big shot goes up or something…he’ll like stand up in his chair. We kid that we’re going to have to buy him a seatbelt,” Rowland said.
T-Row also revealed a new habit that Henry has formed this season and the SportsTalk Network is mildly concerned for his health. Hear what Toby said today on the “T-Row in the Morning Show” about Henry’s perhaps over-the-top enthusiasm during Sooner hoops games.
