OSU moved up to No. 8 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll after ousting No. 25 Texas on Saturday — its third consecutive win over an AP-ranked team — and voters are taking notice.
The Cowboys’ leap was propelled by several AP voters putting OSU higher than previous ballots after the weekend that was, with three — Nathan Baird, Kellis Robinett and Ryan Pritt — putting them at No. 4. Matt Brown, Jon Wilner, Eric Hansen, Brian Howell and John Clay all put OSU at No. 5.

For the most part, OSU was on ballots as a top-10 team with only a few exceptions. A Wisconsin beat writer took the cake as the lowest on OSU, ranking the Pokes 15th, and a beat writer for Notre Dame and for Arkansas both came close, ranking OSU No. 14.
I’d argue No. 15 is way too low for a team with OSU’s resume but from a big-picture perspective, it’s still impressive the team has come this far. It entered the season unranked and now has a top-10 ranking thanks to a 6-0 record entering Week 8.
